TEEN COURTNEY

YEAR: 1996

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2010

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I love this girl. I just discovered mine has some red smudges on her nose, but I'll have to try to remove them as opposed to buying a new one, because she's not cheap!

NOTES: This is one gorgeous Courtney that looks a little older than the previous line.

BARBIE AND THE SENSATIONS BECKY

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Used

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Barbie and the Rockers fashion #1176. Worn complete.

NOTES: I can't remember how I ended up with a second, more used Becky, but here she is. She was perfect to wear one of the Rockers fashions.

BARBIE AND THE SENSATIONS BECKY

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: November 2008

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original and sadly, the jacket is dying.

NOTES: Becky is not as cool as Dana, but I still like her a lot. It's a shame there's no way to keep her outfit in good shape.

FEELIN' GROOVY BARBIE

YEAR: 1986

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

MOLD: Steffie

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I love this doll! It's always great to see a pale-skinned, black-haired girl with the Steffie face. And her outfit is really pretty, too. Excellent colors.

CHEERLEADER JAZZIE

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Jazzie

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: My least fave of the Jazzies I own, but still cute.

TEEN DANCE JAZZIE

 YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

MOLD: Jazzie

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I started buying more Jazzies in 2008 along with my childhood faves.

JEWEL SECRETS WHITNEY

YEAR: 1986

PURCHASE CONDITION: Either boxed or loose in good condition

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

MOLD: Steffie

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1990 Dinner Date fashion #4937. Whitney wears the complete fashion with her original ring.

NOTES: Whitney was one of my childhood wants that never got fulfilled. She does not disappoint in person! I used to have Perfume Pretty Whitney that I got around the same time, but her head broke in the hurricane move and I haven't replaced her yet. This is the best Whitney anyway.

BENETTON TERESA

YEAR: 1990

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: August 2008

MOLD: Steffie

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1985 Astro fashions "Dazzling Dancer" #2743. I adore this outfit! It's very She-Ra meets superhero. I believe the whole outfit is being worn by Teresa, along with her original earrings and ring.

NOTES: This is my favorite Teresa ever, though she might be nudged aside if I ever get Benetton Shopping. This one is stunning though. Gorgeous eyes and lips. Love her hair color. Always a sucker for the Steffie face. That's why she got one of my fave outfits.

HOLLYWOOD HAIR TERESA

YEAR: 1992/1993

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Childhood

MOLD: Teresa

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1989 Dance Club fashion #3566. Ah, old pleather. Sometimes it makes it, other times it does this. I cut the feet off the socks to make "legwarmers" that fit better. Mattel loved to make stockings and socks that those heels just could not fit over. Earrings and ring are original.

NOTES: This was my last Barbie purchase in what I consider my childhood collection. I thought this doll was gorgeous and she got played with a lot, hence the wildness of her hair.

HAWAIIAN FUN JAZZIE

YEAR: 1990/1991

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Childhood

MOLD: Jazzie

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1985 Barbie and the Rockers fashion #2689.

NOTES: This was my only childhood Jazzie. I had her on her original body for a while, but at some point, I rebodied her. I have no idea whose body this even is. I remember her smelling good though. According to her box, she came with a watermelon lip gloss. I should track down another and see if I can recapture that smell.

ALL AMERICAN TERESA

YEAR: 1990/1991

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Childhood

MOLD: Steffie

OUTFIT DETAILS: This is 1989 Dance Club fashion #3569, missing only the orange vinyl purse. Her earrings are original. Not sure where the green ring came from. The original ring was an orange triangle.

NOTES: I only had two Teresas as a kid and they were very different from each other. This one was the first. I was really into X-Men at the time and she was my Rogue. It's the big hair. Heh.

TEEN TIME COURTNEY

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: October 2008

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I don't remember this super cute Courtney from when I was a kid or I'm sure I would have wanted her. Kid me loved dolls with glasses!

TEEN FUN SKIPPER WORKOUT

YEAR: 1987

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1988 Teen Time fashions "Movie Date." Complete except for pink  stockings.

NOTES: Workout is my actual favorite of these three. I think it's her big green eyes.

TEEN FUN SKIPPER PARTY

YEAR: 1987

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I think this was the one I liked best as a kid, aside from Teen Sweetheart. It's a really cute outfit! As an adult, I don't love her weird pale makeup.

TEEN FUN SKIPPER CHEERLEADER

 YEAR: 1987

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: While these girls don't represent a childhood doll like Courtney does, I'm going to put them with her because this series should sit together. I'm not sure if I ever meant to buy outfits for them all, but this girl never got one. She's very unusual in that she's a brown-eyed Skipper!

COOL TOPS COURTNEY

YEAR: 1989

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: September 2008

OUTFIT DETAILS: This is one of the 1988 Teen Time fashions. It's referred to as "Fashion smarts!" because that's what it says on the package. Courtney wears all of the outfit except the lace stockings. Her hair decos are original.

NOTES: I had three Skipper-sized dolls when I was a kid: 1984 Hot Stuff Skipper, 1988 Teen Sweetheart Skipper, and this Courtney. Of course, Courtney was my favorite. My childhood one is gone, but in 2008 I had to get an upgrade. She remains my favorite Skipper-sized doll.

DANCE CLUB KAYLA

YEAR: 1989

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Diva

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original belt, earrings and ring. Possibly original shoes. White jelly bracelet is likely Rockers. Silver bracelet is more modern. She wears Fashion Fantasy 1983 #4811 "Curtains Up." This originally had black open toe sandals and a plaid belt.

NOTES: This is my upgrade Kayla that I bought boxed when I first started rebuying a lot of childhood faves. She wears my favorite childhood fashion, though also an upgrade.

DANCE CLUB KAYLA

YEAR: 1989

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Childhood

MOLD: Diva

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original earrings and ring. The rest of the outfit is Paris Pretty 1988 #1909. I had the Barbie collector cards that showed all these amazing outfits and this was my most wanted one. Took me until adulthood to get it, but Kayla will always wear it proudly.

NOTES: Diva walked so Kayla could run. I love the Diva mold and this Kayla will forever be my favorite that uses it. This is actually my childhood doll. Not in too bad condition, considering I played with her a lot!

TROPICAL MIKO

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Miko wears the dress from Private Collection 1987 #5410. This outfit also came with a red bolero and a really ugly hat. The shoes are more modern, not original to the outfit.

NOTES: Ah, Miko! I loved her so. PJ, Dana and Kayla were my big faves, but Miko was pretty close behind. I played with and brushed my childhood doll so much that her head had to be glued on.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS BARBIE

YEAR: 2008

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Superstar

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: This is the 2008 repro Rockers Barbie. I never bought either of the original versions. She's not a top fave by any means, but I felt she needed to go near the other Rockers. And her white leather is already falling apart! Argh.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DEREK

YEAR: 1986

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Childhood

MOLD: Derek

OUTFIT DETAILS: I need to research this, but I know it's a Ken fashion.

NOTES: Ah, Derek. I only had two Kens when I was a kid and he was one of them. (The other was Day to Night.) Again, not sure why I picked the 2nd series one when 1st series was better. Maybe I liked all the flashy gold of his original outfit. Derek usually played the favorite boyfriend role whenever I got a new favorite doll. At the moment, he's been with Tara Lynn for decades.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DIVA

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Diva

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I had the 2nd series Diva as a kid and I'm not sure why I picked her over this one, who is far more glorious. This is another of my favorite facemolds.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DEEDEE

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: August 2008

MOLD: Spanish

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I sadly did not have DeeDee when I was a kid, but she's standing happily with the other Rockers now. I absolutely love this mold on her! Her leather skirt did not hold up, but I peeled the aged leather off and now it's a simple black skirt.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DANA

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Unknown

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Rockers fashion from the 2008 reproduction Barbie.

NOTES: I have no idea when I got this Dana. I'm pretty sure she isn't my childhood one. She's not in great shape, but she's still a Dana, so I wasn't getting rid of her. The boots on the outfit are not holding up great, which is disappointing, as they're not even 20 years old.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DANA

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown, likely early 2000s

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: My second childhood favorite doll! I bought this Dana boxed off eBay, not realizing she was a variant edition. I don't remember any details, though I do have an older photo of her marked "Spanish." Not sure if that means Spain or Spanish language on the box. She has some notable differences from the version I had as a kid, mainly the purple bracelet and silver earrings. I do love this Dana as a neat variant, but I need to buy a regular one someday.

SWEET ROSES PJ

YEAR: 1983

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: November 2008

MOLD: Steffie

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: My first entry just has to be my first ever favorite Barbie. The Steffie face is one of my top facemolds and this remains one of my favorite Barbies of all time.
