THAI BARBIE

YEAR: 1998

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: November 2025

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: I saw this lady twice at the toy store and left her there both times. Finally when I was ready for her, she was gone, so I got one on eBay, only for her to have been sold already. Sigh. Then I bought another and this is the one that made her way to me. She's awesome. I should have gotten her long ago.

ORIENTAL BARBIE

YEAR: 1981

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown, but between 2013-2017.

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: This is the first Asian Barbie! Yeah, she was called Oriental Barbie, but it was 1981. This mold was initially called the Oriental mold because she's the first to use it, but it's more commonly called the Kira mold now. She's a lovely doll. She just has a very outdated name.

JAPANESE BARBIE

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown. Likely around 2009.

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: The fourth of the childhood wanted dolls! So it was Japan, Paris, India and Spain.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DANA

YEAR: 1986

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: February 2026

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original.

NOTES: This is the second series Rockers Dana. They're the ones who "dance," which is a pretty fun feature. I never had her as a kid, because the original Dana was my first Rocker, but I did have Diva and Derek from this series. I still have Derek, but not Diva, so I may go track her down. While I think the original Dana is far superior, I am a little surprised that I took so long to add this one to my set, because she's still superior to a lot of Kira mold dolls.

BENETTON SHOPPING MARINA

YEAR: 1991

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: November 2025

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: This is my other favorite purchase from this year. I instantly fell in love with this girl when I saw her on eBay, and was thrilled to manage to afford one. She was like half the price of the others being sold at the time. I love these colors. I think this is my favorite of all the Benetton outfits. Weird that I like the only pink and purple outfit when I usually gravitate more toward red, orange and green if they're offered, but this is just a fun outfit. I think maybe because it's a little less over the top than a lot of Benetton. She is absolutely stunning though. Right up there with Dana and Miko as a favorite with this mold.

BENETTON KIRA

YEAR: 1990

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: October 2025

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original. I love the skirt material.

NOTES: I recently became obsessed with the Benetton line and the Shopping versions seemed completely out of reach, so I got the first series Kira instead. I believe this is my only Kira mold doll that's actually named Kira!

WESTERN FUN NIA

YEAR: 1989

PURCHASE CONDITION: Used

PURCHASE DATE: 2023ish

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: 1983 Fashion Fantasy "Romantic Valentine" #4812. I still have my original dress and shoes, but that choker is long gone. I love this one. It's very 80s girly Barbie.

NOTES: Nia was the third doll I found at the toy store. Her hair is a little frizzy, but I think it's the best of the three. I may get a boxed Nia someday as an upgrade, but this one is perfect for wearing another childhood fashion favorite.

BARBIE AND THE SENSATIONS BECKY

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Used

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Barbie and the Rockers fashion #1176. Worn complete.

NOTES: I can't remember how I ended up with a second, more used Becky, but here she is. She was perfect to wear one of the Rockers fashions.

BARBIE AND THE SENSATIONS BECKY

YEAR: 1988

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: November 2008

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original and sadly, the jacket is dying.

NOTES: Becky is not as cool as Dana, but I still like her a lot. It's a shame there's no way to keep her outfit in good shape.

TROPICAL MIKO

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: 2008

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Miko wears the dress from Private Collection 1987 #5410. This outfit also came with a red bolero and a really ugly hat. The shoes are more modern, not original to the outfit.

NOTES: Ah, Miko! I loved her so. PJ, Dana and Kayla were my big faves, but Miko was pretty close behind. I played with and brushed my childhood doll so much that her head had to be glued on.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DANA

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Unknown

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Rockers fashion from the 2008 reproduction Barbie.

NOTES: I have no idea when I got this Dana. I'm pretty sure she isn't my childhood one. She's not in great shape, but she's still a Dana, so I wasn't getting rid of her. The boots on the outfit are not holding up great, which is disappointing, as they're not even 20 years old.

BARBIE & THE ROCKERS DANA

YEAR: 1985

PURCHASE CONDITION: Boxed

PURCHASE DATE: Unknown, likely early 2000s

MOLD: Kira

OUTFIT DETAILS: Original

NOTES: My second childhood favorite doll! I bought this Dana boxed off eBay, not realizing she was a variant edition. I don't remember any details, though I do have an older photo of her marked "Spanish." Not sure if that means Spain or Spanish language on the box. She has some notable differences from the version I had as a kid, mainly the purple bracelet and silver earrings. I do love this Dana as a neat variant, but I need to buy a regular one someday.
